Who We Are

The Women Hunting Alaska Mentorship Program, launched in June 2024, was created to support, educate, and connect women who are interested in learning how to hunt in Alaska. Since its beginning, the program has grown into an active and supportive community built around mentorship, shared learning, and hands-on experience.

The program has offered a wide range of educational opportunities, including virtual classes via Zoom and in-person gatherings. Topics and activities have included backpack fitting, getting physically fit for the field, gear get-togethers, studying OnX maps and topography, spring black bear hunting and a deer hunting trip.

The group has taken part in range days focused on safe and effective shooting with rifles, shotguns, and handguns. The group has also come together through casual meet-ups, such as group breakfast, potlucks, dinners - which have helped build friendship and a strong sense of community.

Women in the program are eager to network, share knowledge, and learn how to plan and prepare efficiently for hunting season. They value understanding wildlife, foraging, and habitat to become smarter, more ethical hunters. The program also emphasizes the importance of providing high-quality, organic Alaskan wild game for their families, ensuring that every step from field to table is done thoughtfully and responsibly.

Through a combination of education, mentorship, and shared experiences, the Women Hunting Alaska Mentorship Program empowers women to build confidence, develop practical hunting and shooting skills, and connect with a community of like-minded hunters who prioritize knowledge, preparation, and respect for the land and wildlife.
